Secondary School Transfer

Children from Allfarthing transfer to a variety of secondary schools, in both the maintained and independent sectors. Parents and pupils are supported through this process by experienced staff who are here to advise and assist.

Each September year 6 students are invited to take the Wandsworth Test if they are looking to apply for any of the selective schools within the borough (information on these schools can be found in the Parent Information link below).  The outcome of the Wandsworth Tests will be emailed to parents by late October. 

At Allfarthing this is how we support our families through the  secondary school application process:

• During the first 2 weeks of the autumn term the year 6 teachers invite parents/carers in to discuss secondary schools, and the secondary school process, to help ensure that the children are applying for suitable schools and meet the state school application deadlines.
• Interview preparation: As part of the admissions process for the private sector secondary schools, children are required to attend an interview.  We offer interview practice and techniques, with mock interviews.  We also guide our children on books and hobbies to show their best potential as well as discussing  age appropriate current affairs.
•  Scholarship preparation: A large number of our children apply for sports, art, music and academic scholarships at both private and state schools.   We are able to support these applications due to all the extra curricular activities we offer at Allfarthing by  taking part in both sporting and academic competitions, enabling our children to be the best person they can be.  We also write references to support each child in their specialised area.

The secondary school state school applications are all made online through the Wandsworth Borough website and must be submitted by the 31st October each year. 

For those applying to Independent schools, the application process runs from September to December, depending on the school. Please see individual school websites for details.
