Pupil Premium
What is 'Pupil Premium'?
The Pupil Premium funding is additional funding given to schools so that they can support their disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. It is allocated according to the numbers in specific groups.
Schools receive Pupil Premium funding for:
- all children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM)
- all children who have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point in the last 6 years
- all children who, at any time have been looked after continuously for more than six months by someone other than their immediate family
- children of service personnel
As a school we have autonomy to spend the Pupil Premium as we see fit to meet the needs of our targeted children and close the gap in achievement; this is coordinated by The Headteacher and Pupil Premium Champion (Ms Francis). We are held accountable for how we use the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families and you can read the strategy on our school website alongside the evaluation of impact from the previous year’s spending.
PP Strategy
Due to the changes to educational provision impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic the detail in this Pupil Premium Strategy remains subject to review. Our use of the funding has been adapted to meet students’ needs (alongside the COVID Catch-Up funding) as they have arisen, whilst maintaining where possible the principles outlined in this document.
